BEND OR, November 20, 2019 — Enterprise content delivery firm, Kollective, has today announced a major update to its software delivery solution. The new Kollective for ConfigMgr 2.0 product adds new features, and prepares users for upcoming changes outlined by Microsoft at Microsoft Ignite.
The updated solution includes a new ‘Publisher Console’ application. This allows customers to quickly search, sort and view the publication status of Configuration Manager content and to selectively publish or unpublish content items as required. The Publisher Console also exposes configuration options making it easier to make settings changes.
Publish prioritization features have also been added, automatically moving items marked as ‘high priority’ to the front of the publication queue. A new Publisher API component has also been added to support the console, as well as future extensibility.
Kollective has also added an option to disable distribution point fallback. This means that any content item or content type can be set to not allow fallback to a distribution point in the unlikely event that content cannot be delivered by Kollective. This feature is another option designed to protect customers from unexpected network saturation.
Commenting on the new release, Eric Nguyen, Chief Product Officer at Kollective said, “The next few years are going to see big changes for businesses and IT teams. With Microsoft ending support for Windows 7 in early 2020, businesses will need to move to the far more update-intensive Windows 10. This — along with Microsoft’s wider move to cloud-based 365 solutions — will mean far greater strain on company networks and more frequent software distributions.
“At the same time, the launch of Microsoft Endpoint Manager also provides a great opportunity for businesses to rethink their existing deployments processes. That’s why we developed Kollective for ConfigMgr 2.0. By thinking about the increasing rate — and changing nature — of enterprise software delivery, we’ve been able to develop a solution that not only improves the process of distribution, but also future proofs it against the changes to come.”
